(G)      (D)       (Cadd9)   (G)
My first rifle was a .243,
(Em7)       (D)       (Cadd9)        (G)
Papa gave Daddy and Daddy gave to me,
(G)                        (D)         (Cadd9)        (G)
and they taught me how to shoot with a steady hand,
(Em7)             (D)             (Cadd9)        (G)
I guess that's something you don't understand.

Now I grew up on a prison farm,
sneaking pulls of shine from a mason jar,
used to go fishing out pickle creek dam,
but I guess that's something you don't understand.

Chorus:
(Cadd9)            (G)
Grandmas in the kitchen;
(Cadd9)            (D)
Papas done passed on;
(Cadd9)               (G)
We sit out on the front porch,
(Em7)      (D)          (Cadd9)
Just a pickin' on the songs;
(Cadd9)                 (G)
and there's blood on the table,
(Cadd9)                  (D)
cause we work for what we have;
(Em7)             (D)    (Cadd9)
and I was raised in this land,
(Em7)              (D)     (Cadd9)        (G)
I guess that's something you don't understand.

I still fly that southern flag,
whistling Dixieland enough to brag,
and I know all the words to simple man,
I guess that's something you don't understand.

I pledge my allegiance the original way,
say Merry Christmas not happy holidays,
I can't change my ways I know who I am,
I guess that's something you don't understand.

Grandmas in the kitchen;
Papas done passed on;
we sit out on the front porch,
just a pickin' on the songs;
and there's blood on the table,
cause we work for what we have;
and I was raised in this land,
I guess that's something you don't understand.

Bridge:
(F#m)                   (G)
A pile of soap and a big machine;
(Bm)                   (Cm)
I'll feed us all on the same beliefs,
(F#m)                   (G)
Holy dollar and a credit card;
(Bb)                     (Fm)
but we got a way of doing things,
(G)
and no bankers gonna steal from me;
(Am)
they wanna tear it all apart.

Grandmas in the kitchen;
Papas done past on;
we sit out on the front porch,
just a pickin' on the songs;
and there's a bible on the table,
cause he bleed for what we have,
and that's the ballad of a southern man,
I guess that's something you don't understand.

Repeat 1st two lines:

My first rifle was a .243,
Papa gave Daddy and Daddy gave to me.

In the bridge, They are all barred chords

(G)  3
   5
   5
   4
   3
   3

For (Am) slide that up to the 5th fret

I gotcha. The only difference I see is G D Cadd9 G in the 1st and 3rd lines of the verses. If theres anything I missed let me know.

Nice Man! In the Chorus line: "Papa's done passed on;" I think its (Cadd9) and (D). Thanks!

Great job... Third line in each verse ends in Em or Em7 depending on how you play it, not G. You'll notice it in the video at 2:37ish (hand, dam, man, am)

Strumming pattern?

hey man thanks for doing this. great song, hard to find a good chord chart for it. its off during the bridge though. go watch the youtube link posted and you can see him playing during the bridge. chord progression is all as follows (all power chords, not bar chords):

Bflat, F C G

Bflat F C

Bflat F C G D (keep hitting the D power chord heading into the last chorus, then hit the C power chord coming back in and then mute it (hit it and mute it on the word "grandma's" and then come back in normal on the word "in")).

That comes directly from watching them play it. Try it out, sounds perfect.

It's Cripple Creek Dam not pickle creek
