Willie Nelson
THe Last Thing I Needed
C G
The postman delivered
a past due bill notice
F/C C G
and the alarm clock rang two hours late
C G
The garbage man left all the trash on the sidewalk
F/C C G
and the hinges fell off of the gate
F/C C
And this morning at breakfast
F/C C
I spilled all the coffee
C G/B Am C
And opened the door on my knee
F/C C Am
But the last thing I needed the first thing this morning
G F/C C
was to have you walk out on me
Last night you came home late
and I knew you'd been drinking
by that old mellow look on your face
I thought it don't matter
cause it's the holiday season
and you fill such a big empty space
and i laid down beside you
and I wanted your lovin
cause youre love makes my life complete
But the last thing...
F
So excuse me for lookin
C
like my world is ??
F
Excuse me for lookin
C
like i just lost my best friend
F
Excuse me for livin and being forgiven
C
so just go on if you want to be free
But the last thing...

Like my world Just ended. -Rmcwil | 4/4/2004 | the words to this tune tell a sad story, yet they come to the point quickly, in perfect poetry. This is another willie lost classic. Too bad "country" radio in Los Angeles will never play this stuff. their too "MTV'd out"
-furthermoregreg | 7/17/2004 | If you like this song, check out it's author: Gary P. Nunn. He still tours in and around Texas. He puts on a fun show with real country music. -caseyheilman | 3/5/2005 | houston is pretty much mtv'd out on radio too. the good stations get booted causethey play good music and people dont want good music anymore. they just want what sells. -omgalice22 | 6/6/2005 | Check out Willie's version with Kenny Chesney on his Live and Kickin' album. Awesome. -mrcountryrock | 6/23/2005 |
