Artist: Zac Brown Band
Song: "Toes in the Sand"

I tabbed this in 2005 originally from a live show at his Lake Oconee restaurant way before they
started selling out amphitheaters & winning Grammys, so if there are variations by now, then
just know that I tabbed it from the aforementioned version, lyrics & all.

NO CAPO -- LIVE
I think he uses a Capo on 2 if you've heard the Album version.
Chords for that are in the comments below. I play the G as a barred chord (355433).

INTRO:

[C] [F] [C] [G] [C] [F] [C] [G] [C]

PRE-CHORUS:

[C]
I got my toes in the water,
[F]
ass in the sand
[C]
not a worry in the world
       [G]
a cold beer in my hand
[F] [G]
life is good today
 	  	     [C]
life is good today

VERSE 1:

[C]
well the plane touched town
      [F]
just about 3 o'clock
 	 [C] [G]
and the city's still on my mind
[C] [F]
bikinis & palm trees danced in my head
      [C] [G] [C]
i was still in the baggage line

VERSE 2:
[C] [F]
concrete and cars are their own prison bars
[C] [G]
like this life i'm livin in
 	 [C]
but the plane brought me farther
    [F]
i'm surrounded by water
[C] [G] [C]
and i'm not going back again

PRE-CHORUS:
[C]
I got my toes in the water,
[F]
ass in the sand
[C]
not a worry in the world
       [G]
a cold beer in my hand
[F] [G]
life is good today
 	  	     [C]
life is good today

CHORUS:
[C] [F]
   Adios and vaya con dios
 	  	 [C]
Yea, i'm leavin GA
 	   [G]
and if it weren't for tequila & pretty senoritas

i'd have no reason to stay

[C] [F]
  Adios and vaya con dios
 	  	 [C]
Yea, i'm leavin GA
      [G]
gonna lay in the hot sun

& roll a big fat one
   	  	    [C]
& grab my guitar & play

(REPEAT INTRO)

VERSE 3:

[C]
the 4 days flew by
 	 [F]
like a drunk friday night
[C] [G]
as the summer drew to an end
[C] [F]
they can't believe that i just couldn't leave
      [C] [G] [C]
and i bid adeiu to my friends

BRIDGE:
[C]
cuz my bartender
[F]
she's from the islands
    [C] [G]
her body's been kissed by the sun
  [C] [F]
& coconut replaces the smell of the bar
    [C] [G] [C]
& i don't know if its her or the rum

PRE-CHORUS:
[C]
I got my toes in the water,
[F]
ass in the sand
[C]
not a worry in the world
       [G]
a cold beer in my hand
[F] [G]
life is good today
 	  	     [C]
life is good today

CHORUS 2:
[C] [F]
  Adios and vaya con dios
 	  	 [C]
A long way from GA
 	 [G]
hey and all the muchas they call me big papa
 	  	  	  [C]
when i throw pesos their way

[C] [F]
  Adios and vaya con dios
 	  	 [C]
A long way from GA
         [G]
hey boss do me a favor

& pass me the Jaegar
 	  	  	 [C]
& i'll grab my guitar & play

(REPEAT INTRO)

CHORUS 3:
[C] [F]
  Adios and vaya con dios
 	  	  [C]
Goin home now to stay
    [G]
cuz senioritas don't care-oh

when there's no deneiro
 	  	     [C]
you got no money to stay

[C] [F]
  Adios and vaya con dios
 	  	  [C]
Goin home now to stay . . .

. . . I'm just gonna kick it on the lake
 	 [C]
with my ass in the lawn chair
[F]
toes in the clay
[C]
not a worry in the world
    [G]
a P-B-R on the way
[F] [G]
life is good today
 	      [C]
life is good today

Just a note. Before these tabs were lost it was noted that Zac tunes all of his guitars down 1/2 a step by his guitar tech "Chris Icaton" (I think). That's for those of you wanting to sound like the recorded versions

to play the album version capo on 2 and its A D A E.
-gmb2006 | 10/4/2008
the spanish in the chorus is "Adios and vaya con dios" it means good bye and go with god
-dbristow | 10/13/2008
Great tab. It does sound good a 1/2 step down, and personally, in the pre chorus, instead of the first G i play a G7 (320001) to make it sound a little more country. And i know others have mentioned that on the album he plays it 1/2 step down, capo 2 A, but i like it in C (1/2 step down B) better, it's something to consider if you don't wanna play it like everyone else. It's just a preference though, play it as you wish.

Instead of capoing 2nd fret and tuning half step down....can't you just capo on the first fret? Did I misunderstand something? Good job on tabs....thanks...
-guitonit | 9/4/2009
He's not saying he's "leaving GA"..... He's saying he's leaving TA...as in Tiajuana, Mexico. Tequila, Senoritas, deniero? c'mon...
-strat0ma5ter | 12/12/2009
He does in fact say "leaving GA." referring to his home in Dahlonega, Ga. The abreviation for Tijuana is TJ.
-Telefan67 | 12/12/2009
Tune your guitar 1/2 down and this is the correct "tab". Watch him play it live. He in fact says GA as noted and does tune down 1/2 on all guitars. Question it if you like...but you will be wrong.
-GrinPicker | 9/7/2010
Oh and to be clear. 1/2 down NO Capo. Intro: C chord hammer the index finger, Barred F to a G (1st position). You'll hear it..

Once again, the "never learned to read & write so well" guitar gang proves that, between all 23 million of them alive in the USA today, they do not possess the collective IQ to know the difference between a tab, a chord chart, and the useless Millennial-grade crap posted above.
