Performed by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss – Written by Bill Anderson and Jon Randall

This is not the intro on the album, but then the song on the album wasn't played with only one acoustic guitar.
I'm not an expert writing tab (as you can see) but you should be able to figure it out.
If you can't play the tab, you can just play the Am and F in the same rhythm as the "La la la" part.

Capo on the 2nd fret. I think this has a better sound than playing the standard tuning chords.

Intro: Play twice

  Am F F
e|-------O---------------O-------1-|-1------|
B|-0h1-3---3-1-0---Oh1-3---3-1-3-1-|-1------|
G|---------------2---------------2-|-2------|
D|-------------------------------3-|-2------|
A|O------------------------------x-|-x------|
E|-------------------------------x-|-x------|
 2

    G C F Am
She put him out like the burning end of a midnight cigarette
    G C F G
She broke his heart he spent his whole life trying to forget
   Am G C
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
       Am G C
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
        G
Until tonight...

Chorus 1:
            C F G
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
    Am G F
And finally drank away her memory
C G
Life is short but this time it was bigger
         Am G F
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
     C G
They found him with his face down in the pillow
       Am G F
With a note that said I'll love her til I die
    C G
And when we buried him beneath the willow
    F Am
The angel's sang a whiskey lullaby

Am F
La la la la la la la, La la la la la la la
Am F
La la la la la la la, La la la la la la la

    G C F Am
The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
    G C F G
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
    Am G C
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
        Am G C
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
          G
Until the night...

Chorus 2:
             C F G
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
    Am G F
And finally drank away his memory
C G
Life is short but this time it was bigger
         Am G F
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
   C G
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Am G F
Clinging to his picture for dear life
   C G
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
      F Am
While angels sang a whiskey lullaby

Am F
La la la la la la la, La la la la la la la

Am F
      (No lyrics)

Am F
La la la la la la la, La la la la la la la

Am F
La la la la la la la, La la la la la la la

Am F
      (No lyrics)

      (Acapella)
La la la la la la la, La la la la la la la

Not the way Brad plays it, but I agree that this tone sounds much better...great job !

Thanks. This isn't the way I always play it, but I figured there might be some folks out there that would like to get out from under that Bm(2) chord.
