Capo III Fret

Intro

I was (D) raised off of Rural Route 3
Out (A) past where the blacktop ends
(D) We'd walk to church on Sunday morn
And race (G) barefoot back to Johnson's fence
(D) That's where I first saw Mary
(A) On that roadside, pickin' blackberries
(Bm) That summer I turned a corner (G) in my soul
Down that (A) Red Dirt (D) Road

(D) It's where I drank my first beer
(A) It's where I found Jesus
(Bm) It's where I wrecked my first car
I (G) tore it all to pieces
(D) I learned the path to heaven
(A) Is full of sinners and believers
(Bm) Learned that happiness on earth
Ain't (G) just for high achievers
I've (Em) learned - I've come to (D/F#) know
There's life at (G) both ends
(A) Of that Red Dirt (D) Road

Her (D) daddy didn't like me much
With my (A) shackled up G.T.O.
(D) I'd sneak out in the middle of the night
Throw (G) rocks at her bedroom window
(D) We'd turn out the headlights
(A) Drive by the moonlight
(Bm) Talk about what the future might (G) hold
Down that (A) Red Dirt (D) Road

(D) It's where I drank my first beer
(A) It's where I found Jesus
(Bm) It's where I wrecked my first car
I (G) tore it all to pieces
(D) I learned the path to heaven
(A) Is full of sinners and believers
(Bm) Learned that happiness on earth
Ain't (G) just for high achievers
I've (Em) learned - I've come to (D/F#) know
There's life at (G) both ends
(A) Of that Red Dirt (D) Road

I went (Em) out into the (F#m7) world
And I (G) came back in
(Em) I lost (F#m7) Mary
Oh, but I (G) got her back again
(Em) Drivin' home to(F#m7)night
Feel like I found a (G) long lost (A) friend (Asus4) (A)

(D) It's where I drank my first beer
(A) It's where I found Jesus
(Bm) It's where I wrecked my first car
I (G) tore it all to pieces
(D) I learned the path to heaven
(A) Is full of sinners and believers
(Bm) Learned that happiness on earth
Ain't (G) just for high achievers
I've (Em) learned - I've come to (D/F#) know
There's life at (G) both ends
(A) Of that Red Dirt (D) Road

WildCard has it nailed - but with the capo,
the key is the same as the previous post by Palamin0@countrytabs.com.

I think Palamino's tab is best for a solo acoustic guitar,
as the lower, uncaped F and C have body.

This capo III version sounds best when done with two guitars,
one capoed and one using power chords.
Great job guys - both WildCard and palamin0.

Has anyone thought to capo on the 5th fret. this will form a C chord. Now you can play the little lead jingle on the 2nd B string and still catch all the bass notes.

can you tab out F#m7?.....thanks!

F#m7 is the same as an f# but use your thumb on the top third string.204322
-mister_t_07 | 4/7/2004
* really that is an f#7 so you probably need to do an f#m and add a 7 by 222000
-mister_t_07 | 4/7/2004
ok messed up again lol try 022030
-mister_t_07 | 4/8/2004
Or you can try
242322

Just play F Sharp as the barre chord and lift
your Pinky

I think a D/F# sounds better than the F#m7
