I Can Only Imagine

Written by: Bart Millard
Performed by: Jeff Carson

           E Emaj7
I can only imagine

What it will be like
       A2
When I walk

By your side
          E Emaj7
I can only imagine

What my eyes will see
          A2
When your face

Is before me
           E Emaj7
I can only imagine

Chorus:
     A2 B
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
         E
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
        A2 B
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
        E
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
           A2 B
I can only imagine

           E Emaj7
I can only imagine

When that day comes
       A2
And I find myself

Standing in the Son
           E Emaj7
I can only imagine

When all I will do
      A2
Is forever

Forever worship You
           E Emaj7
I can only imagine

Repeat Chorus

Fade out

Chords:
E- 022100
Emaj7- 021100
A2- x07600

Could you explain the A2 cord?

Could you explain the A2 cord?

The actual progression is as follows,
Verse,
E, Emaj7, B2, A2,
Chorus
A2, B2, E

The band originally wrote the song, (Mercy Me) uses different chords for the verse and chorus.
The verse uses E, Emaj7 that are normal, but the B2 and A2 are played like this.

B2 X09800, A2 XO7600,

The E in the chorus is the same but again
the B2 and A2 are different.

B2 X24400, A2 X02200

This adds more dynamics to the song.
At the end of the chorus, fade back in to the E,Emaj7,B2,A2 intro and start the second verse. Checkout Mercy Me on the web at Mercyme.org
Thanks
