Verse : 1

E
Well I taught the weeping willow
how to cry, And I showed the
clouds how to cover
        F# B7
up a clear blue sky
          E
But the tears that I cried
For that women are gonna
A
Flood you Big River and
E B7
I'm gonna sit right here
            E
untill I die

Verse : 2

E
I met her accidentally in
St. Paul Minnasota , And it
tore me up every time I
            F# B7
heard her drawl, southern drawl
            E
Then I heard my dream was
                      A
back down stream cavortin in
                     E
Davenport , and I followed you
      B7 E
Big River, when you called

Fill : E A B7

Verse : 3
E
Then you took me to St. Louis
later on down the river , a
freighter said shes been here
           F# B7
but shes gone , boy shes gone
   E
I found her trail in Memphis
         A
but she just walked up the block
                E
she raised a few eyebrows and
      B7 E
then she went on down alone

Now wont you batter down by
Batton Rouge , river queen rolling
on, Take that women on down
          F# B7
to New Orleans, New Orleans
     E
Go on I' ve had enough dump
    A
my blues down in the gulf
       E B7
cause she loves you Big River
            E
More then me.

Repeat verse : 1

I'm sure this is right, but it also sounds nice in the key of D.

Great job. The original Sun Records is in F. Capo on first fret and play and E. The F# is actually an F#7. No capo give you later versions and the Highwayman version.

The Man in Black will be missed by generations who never even heard him while alive.
