Although this is a song made famous by Johnny Cash, it was written by Mary Robbins. This is the key that Johnny most often sang the song, but there are some recordings of him also singing two steps down in the key of C as his solid bartone sliped into a more relaiable bass in his later years.
This is from the album "Johnny Cash Patriot" 1990.
