OLD BLUE CHAIR (Acoustic)
Kenny Chesney
Album: Be As You Are
2005, BNA Records
Submitted by: Christopher R.
1:17 AM 1/25/2005

G   =   320033
G/B = X2003X
C   =   x32033

Intro: (G) (G)

There's a (G) blue rocking chair
(C) sittin in the sand
(G) weathered by the storm
And (D) well oiled hands
It (G) sways back and forth
With the (C) help of the winds
It (Am) seems to always (C) be there
Like an (D) old trusty friend

  I've (C) read a lot of books
  Wrote a few songs
  (G) looked at my life
Where it's goin’, where it's gone
  (C) I've seen the world through a bus windshield
But (D) nothing compares to the (C) way that I see it (G/B)
To the (Am7) way that I see it (G/B)
To the (C) way that I see it when I (D) sit
In that ol' blue (G) chair

From that (G) chair I've caught
A few (C) fish and some rays
And I've (G) watched boats sail
In and out of (D) cinnamon bay
I've let (G) go of a lover
Who took a (C) piece of my heart
And (Am) prayed many times for for(C)giveness
And a (D) brand-new start

Repeat Chorus

That (C) chair was my bed one new years night
When I (G) passed out from too much Cruzan and diet
And I (C) woke to a hundred mosquito bites
I (D) swear
Got 'em (C) all sittin' right (D) there
In that ol' blue (G) chair

There's a (G) blue rocking chair
(C) sittin in the sand
(D) weathered by the storms
And (N.C.) well oiled hands (G) (G) (C) (D) (G)

And let the race to tab the new album begin! (I know, this song was released before, but still...) Nice job.

perfect 10!
-finsup | 1/27/2005
its Cruzan on ice, and the chords are all off
-kerch320 | 1/28/2005
Ok. I have received many messages about this, already. This version
of Old Blue Chair is different than the one on "When The Sun Goes
Down". The original key of the song was F#. On this album (Be As You
Are), Kenny sings it in G, NOT F#. He also changes a few of the
lyrics.

Wildcard76 , for what it's worth I just finished playing the song along with "That old blue chair" (acoustic version)from CMT.com while following your tab.You made no mistakes!!!!!from the chord progression to the lyrics you are right on.I've never made a comment before but someone has to speak out against the (critics) on this site.I am sick of the negativaty from people when yourself and a handful of others are the only one's with enough heart and drive to tab most of the songs on the site.I've seen songs that are wrong (way wrong) but i don't feel the need to lash out at the tabber for trying,at least he/she tried.I know alot of songs that I could correct or new songs i could tab,but I'm just too lazy!!!!Anyway thank you and all of the other tabbers on this site without you, well, there would be no site.
I hope you guys know how much you are appreciated by thousands of guitarest everywere.

You have no idea how much that means
to me. Thank you very much!!! May God
bless you....

It always amazes me how quick people are to point out something is "wrong" when they don't even know the full story (ie having two versions of a song in different keys recorded) Once a guy left a sarcastic comment on one of my tabs of a song recorded by two different artists saying "it wasn't this guy who recorded this song... blah blah something rude" Like as if I just put it up there under that person's name for fun. lol

Thanks for the positive encouragement brockr and perfect tab Wildcard

-tikibar | 3/6/2005
Great job on tabbing this song - and the correct verse is actually "Cruzan and Diet" as shown in this tab and not Cruzan and Ice as may have been suggested.
-efford | 3/9/2005
this tab is right on the money i know because i went to one of Kenny,s concerts and i was close
enough to the stage so that i could watch him play it and it is right on good job
