There Goes My Life - Kenny Chesney

**Capo 2**

Intro: G D A G D A

D G D A
All he could think about was how I'm too young for this
D G D A
Got my whole life ahead, hell I'm just a kid
   Em7 D G D/F# A
Myself, how am I gonna raise one
D G D A
All he could see were his dreams going up in smoke
D G D A
So much for ditching this town and hanging out on the coast
 Em7 A
Oh well, those plans are long gone, and he said

Chorus:
D A G A
There goes my life
D A G D/F#
There goes my future, my everything
Em7 D/F# G
Might as well kiss it all goodbye
                G D/F# A
There goes my life

D G D A
A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later
D G D A
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator
 Em7 D/F#
Oh yeah, he loves that little girl
D G D A
Mama's waiting to tuck her in as she fumbles up those stairs
D G D A
She smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear
Em7 A
Sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncing curls, and he smiles

Chorus:
D A G A
There goes my life
D A G D/F#
There goes my future, my everything
Em7 D/F# G
I love you, daddy good night
Asus4 G
There goes my life

D/F# Em7 D/F# G
She had that Honda loaded down with Abercrombie clothes
    D/F# A
And 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express
G D/F# Em7 D/F#
He checked the oil slammed the hood said you're good to go
     G D/F# A
She hugged em both and headed off to the west coast
G D A
        And he cried...

Chorus:
D A G A
There goes my life
D A G D/F#
There goes my future, my everything
Em7 D/F# G
I love you, baby goodbye
G D/F# G D/F#
      There goes my life

(repeat last line to fade)

I could be wrong but I think to be in the key of the recording the capo
should be on the third fret....

does anybody know when this new cd is coming out?

Keep up the awesome tabs Shantel
-tmckown | 10/25/2003
If memory serves me correctly, it's not due out till June or July of
next year.
-ImMrMidnight | 10/26/2003
No it's the second fret for sure!!
-bjustice1 | 11/4/2003
Put the capo on the first fret...end of mystery! A perfect 10 besides
that! Thanks
-markpytko | 11/6/2003
Maybe there's more than one recording out there but the one I have is
definitely capo 2 (key of E). That's also how they played it on the CMA's.
-Shantel | 11/7/2003
It's a little thing that clips on your guitar neck that lets
you change keys without having to play a lot of difficult
bar chords. If you don't have one it's ok you can still play
the song but the key won't match the album without the capo.
They cost about 10-15 bucks, definitely worth getting one.

Shantel you rock great tab,thanks
-tonywoz | 11/24/2003

fret.good job my friend
-caper | 12/9/2003
the cd comes out in Feburary and its titled "when the sun goes down"
-eastolympian | 12/12/2003
I think it sounds better if you take the capo off and play it in "E"
and start out with an Asus. I have not quite figured out all the "walk-downs".
When I do I will let you know. It is still correct
with the capo. it just sounds "fuller" with out it.
If you learn it without a capo you can always play it with one. Great job!!
-taylorplayer1 | 12/23/2003

Well as usual, the Queen of CountryTabs kicks ass once again!
About 75% of the stuff I copy to my computer is from Shantel.
And if she says it's capo 2, it's damn sure capo 2! You make
all of us sorry-ass amateurs look like bandmembers.
-grunt0875 | 1/27/2004
I will give you the 100% assurance that it is capoed First fret,
Watch "Sessions at AOL" kenny chestney. You'll see, it is perfect on
first fret.
-Flashgore | 2/1/2004
End the CAPO confussion! When he played it on the CMA's which I have
on video and you can see, they played it w/ capo on 1st. The CD
version is on the second! That's why there is so much confusion.
Great job on the tab. Mark
-markpytko | 2/5/2004
You know if your a singer and guitar player
then you know that it doesnt matter what fret to put the capo on.
all that matters is you have the chords to
play. Then if you want you can put the capo
on for what ever hey you sing it in.
-blugrass fan | 2/12/2004

-EMRLDEYZS | 9/7/2004

-awguard3 | 5/22/2004
great tab, great song, much appreciated. best way to get the RHYTHM
(had to look up myself) is just listen to the song and play along
with it. If you have aol, get Music Net (cheap monthly fee) and load
song from Kenny
-jmet12 | 6/13/2004
How do you figure out rhythm? You simply listen to the song. Especially with the chords it is easy to figure out the rhythm.
-shawnmason01 | 7/29/2004
Im just a beginner at this.
But shantel has a good ear & a great talent.
Great job (again)
There is truly alot of talent on this site.

First of all, the capo I believe should be an opinion. If you can't sing it in the key it was recorded then move the capo. It sounds really good with capo on I or II. If you don't want yours on two then move it somewhere else, quit whining to the tabber that it's not right. Good job Shantel!
-gendollar | 12/28/2004
in the AOL sessions the capo is on first fret
-bradocastor | 5/15/2005
I beleive the capo thing is depending on what guitar they are using at the time...because they tune differntly for different songs...i think this song is on a guitar tuned down 1/2 step to Eb...that is why they use the capo...in my opinion
-chad_jarnigan | 7/24/2005
Perfect 10!
-pknuckle | 10/23/2005
Great tab on this man. I have 2 young daughters and I can't play this without losing it a little at the ending verse. Thanks again.
