If you Capo - 1 this would be correct. This song was actually recorded in F and this line...
E A B I should have known the worst was yet to come
Should be...
E A E I should have known the worst was yet to come
Evrything else looks good (if you capo - 1)

Thanks for the correction -cowboy31 | 7/8/2004 |
actually, if your guitar is tuned to 440 hz, the song was recorded in the key of F#.......i think merle tunes his guitar down or up 1/2 step....not sure, but suspect he does this...of course you can play/sing in whatever key is best for you... -budhale | 11/18/2004 |
I tried the Capo 1 and it doesn't sound right.... however, I have not heard Merle Haggard's version...as at the moment I am hooked on the version from the Poppy Family ► http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiL7P4mDXcU&feature=related

gisber here.... to apologize... depending on who is singing the song and the key they're singing in, THAT will depend on where you put your capo...so the above as well as other songs are not always written in stone - one needs to listen to the actual artist and particular recording to "hear" exactly what key they are singing in....thank you !! :) -gisber | 5/27/2010 |
This song is awesome. -coldmountainprints | 12/20/2010 |
