She Don't Tell Me To - Montgomery Gentry
Album: Something to Be Proud Of: The Best of 1999-2005
Writers: Bob Di Piero/Rivers Rutherford/Tom Shapiro

Intro: C F (x2)

C
Every now an' then, on my home,
   F C
I stop at a spot where the wild flowers grow, an' I pick a few,
                  F
'Cause she don't tell me to.
C
I go out with my boys all right,
     F C
But most of the time I call it a night before they do,
                  F
'Cause she don't tell me to.
        C
Sunday mornin', I'm in church,
        F C
An' my butt an' my back an' necktie hurt, but I'm in the pew,
           F
She don't tell me to.

Chorus:
C
Any other woman I know would have tried,
       F
To control me and it would be over.
C G
Plannin' on my goin' on my own way attitude.
C
All of that stubborness melts away,
        F
When I wake with her head on my shoulder,
       Bb
An' I know I've got to love her,
  Dm Bb
Until my life is through,
                  C F
'Cause she don't tell me to.

      C
Well, I got demons and I've got pride,
     F C
But when I'm wrong, I apologiZe like she's mine to lose,
                  F
'Cause she don't tell me to.
C
Well, I got dreams in this heart of mine,
     F C
But nothin' that I wouldn't lay aside if she asked me to.
                  F
'Cause she don't tell me to.
 C
An' she don't even know,
          F C
That she keeps lookin' for the next right thing to do,
                  F
'Cause she don't tell me to.
 C G
Yeah, yeah.

Break: C-F C-G C-Bb

Chorus:
C
Any other woman I know would have tried,
                                   Bb-F-C
To control me and it would be over.
C G
Plannin' on my goin' on my own way attitude.
C
All of that stubborness melts away,
        F
When I wake with her head on my shoulder,
       Bb
An' I know I've got to love her,
  Dm
Until my life is through,
     Bb
What else can I do, what else can I do?
Dm
Whoa, I love her,
                  C F
'Cause she don't tell me to.
           C F
She don't tell me to.

C
Every now an' then, on my home,
   F C
I stop at a spot where the wild flowers grow, an' I pick a few,
F
Yes I do

Great job as usual. A few minor lyrical corrections:
First line and third to last line: "on my way home"
Verse one, line 8: "my necktie"
Choruses, line 3: "Plannin' on my going my own way attitude"
Verse two, line 8: " That she keeps me lookin' for the next right thing
to do"

I think it sounds best ending with an F like she has it above. Try ending with the F chord and "Travis Pick" the individual strings in this order;
E►--1-------
B►--------1-
G►-----2----
D►----------
A►----------
E►--1-------

Thanks kikstand, I knew a C was the last note, just wasn't sure how to get there.

The chords sound good. Can anyone tab out the solo or the picking pattern ?

The intro riff or whatever is this:

Just keep your hand in an Open C it all revolves around that. The ( ) are optional a little extra he plays sometimes.. pretty cool and simple little riff
