Ralph Stanley
Song : The Water Lily

Capo 2
  D G D
A lonely young wife in her dreaming discerns
                                    A
A lily decked pool with a border of ferns
      D G D
And a beautiful child with butterfly wings
                               A D
Drifts down to the edge of the water and sings

(CHORUS)
D G D
Come mama, come, quick follow me
                              A D
Step out on the leaves of the water lily

        D G D
And the lonely young wife, her heart beating wild
                                            A
Cries wait till I come, till I reach you my child
        D G D
But the beautiful child with butterfly wings
                               A D
Steps out on the leaves of the lily and sings
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Instrumental:D-G-D-A-D-G-D-A-D

        D G D
And the wife in her dreaming steps out on the stream
                                                A
But the lily leaves sink and she wakes from her dream
        D G D
Oh the waking is sad, for the tears that it brings
                                  A D
And she knows its her dead baby's spirit that sings
(REPEAT CHORUS X2)

I tried this with the song and it just didn't sound right.
Maybe i'm doing somethig wrong,or the cords are wrong.
I will try my first attempt at sending my
version of this song as soon as I figure it out.
