Intro A D

A E D
Alone with the morning burning red in the canvas in my head
D F#m E
Painting a picture of you
    A E D
And me driving across country, in a dusty old RV
D F#m E
Just the road and its majesty
       D E
And I’m looking at you with the world in the rear view

Chorus-
         A
You were pretty as can be, sitting in the front seat
E A
Looking at me, telling me you love me ,and your happy to be,
A D
With me on the 4th of July
        A
We sang Stranglehold to the stereo
         E
Couldn’t take no more of that rock n roll
      A D
So we put on a little George Jones and just sang along

             A E D
Those white lines get drawn into the sun if you aint got no one
                    F#m E
To keep you hanging on
          A E D
And there you were like a queen with your nightgown, riding shotgun from town to town
D F#m E
Staking a claim on the world we found
        D E
And I’m singing to you, your singing to me ,you were out of the blue to a boy like me

Chorus-
         A
You were pretty as can be, sitting in the front seat
E A
Looking at me, telling me you love me ,and your happy to be,
A D
With me on the 4th of July
        A
We sang Stranglehold to the stereo
         E
Couldn’t take no more of that rock n roll
      A D
So we put on a little George Jones and just sang along

-solo- A F# D E

                   D E
and im looking for you in the silence that we share

Chorus-
         A
You were pretty as can be, sitting in the front seat
E A
Looking at me, telling me you love me ,and your happy to be,
A D
With me on the 4th of July
        A
We sang Stranglehold to the stereo
         E
Couldn’t take no more of that rock n roll
      A D
So we put on a little George Jones and just sang along

Thanks for tabbin' this one out! Great song but one comment. I think it may be F#m instead of F#. Not positive but that sounds a little closer for me. Good tab all the way 'round!

This is lmofle as in the Moderator. This will cease now. I deleted all the comments that were negative.

PickerfromWaco - take a chill pill. If it's off, just say it's off
and leave it at that. Personal attacks will get you banned in a
heartbeat. I will download (yes, I said download) the song and check
it for both of you. You can never trust what you see on TV. Even if
it's live alot of artists change keys or tune down some. Always tab
by the recording. I've heard the song on the radio and it's a good
song.
-lmofle | 3/7/2005
It's perfect except the F# should be an F#m - I think I will clean
your tab up while I am at it...

-lmofle | 3/8/2005
thanks alot brother for cleaning it up i will do better next time i write a song out
-superjoint_down | 3/8/2005
Between the 1st chorus and second verse there is a A D A D. Then they end the song with F#m E D A. You did a real good job! Thanks, Mark

Great tab, great artist and great cd. PTOBIC is by far my fav Country album so far this year. And I wish Shooter the best.
-lespaul59 | 3/31/2005
Just the ending chords are missing...

D D C#m Bm A
Sang along......
-Telemon | 4/11/2005
Does any one know the 2nd guitart part that plays during the verse, chorus, and also the solo? I just kinda play something that sounds like it.
-Vynom | 4/23/2005
hey any chance of a tab for this song

-blayze | 5/17/2005
Yea a tab of the after the second chorus would be great
-bigkatfan | 5/21/2005
hey, just listened to the album cut and it is in a. however, when they do it live they play it in g so simmer down boys and play nice.
-billyd13 | 5/29/2005
it works, big deal you know, people who sit around and jam this song on there porch drunk and high really enjoy it, and the tab works for them, i didint tab this out so you can play every little thing perfect, this is just for jammers who just happen to like the song and want to play it the way they hear it on the album ,
-superjoint_down | 5/31/2005
Every comment on this song *not* saying good job needs to be deleted...Larry, any time you can do that would be appreciated. This tab is correct, the song is in A, end of story. If he plays it live in G, who cares? Great, play it live in G. The recording of the song, which is all that matters for tabs, is in A. If the live version was being tabbed, it would have (live version) next to the title. And even still, the only time I saw Shooter he played it capoed 2 in G, which is still the key of A. Just leave it alone and stop cluttering up a perfectly good tab.
-Smoothie7745 | 5/31/2005
try playing it in A with bar chords. I think it sounds better.
-gtrman6969696 | 6/23/2005

-angus65 | 6/28/2005
Great song@@@@@@@
-WildCard76 | 7/10/2005
hey at least you can hear the melody who cares if its off theres the fun part in correcting it yourself "DUHH" ...
-JoeyChingas | 7/30/2005
Ummm, pardon the interruption, but I can't sing in the key of A, so this whole argument seems moot to me, but since music is a form of art, aren't we allowed to interpret it anyway we see fit??? Bottom line...........if it sounds right to you, then it is right......just for you, now let's all sing along!!!!!!!!!! I've been playing for 20 years now, and I harldy ever play a song the same way twice, mostly cause I can't remember em all hahahaha Just jam and be merry!!!!!!!
-jwright2k4 | 10/14/2005
Id love to cover this song at an open mic, but, see, my voice doesn't have the range or strength. I think Ive found a way to do it where it sounds believable, just not the holding out that "Julyyyyyy" and "Sang aloooooong". I've tried changing the key, but it doesnt sound right. So im just curious if anyone else has had this problem, too, and if maybe they found a solution.
But spot on tab. Sounds perfect with the song. Great job man. I dont know why anyone could badmouth it.
-Murph316 | 11/22/2005
just change the key no one that hears it will notice sounds good any way someone hears it this song gets me so much poon its not funny
-superjoint_down | 11/22/2005
I play it Capo 2 (key of A) and with the intro and outro chord helps (thanks fellers!) it sounds just like the recording! Great job tabbing it out!

-coffeesucker | 12/26/2005
When you play it with capo 2 play the Cadd9 instead of the regular C. It sounds perfect to the recording and when you sing it. Exept for the last C in the verse where he says sing along and in the bridge. those are regular C chords. Great tab to a great song.
