Cant it be played G D C? -Trice | 6/26/2008 |
I agree...sounds better with G D C to me -tborsje | 7/2/2008 |
What a great friggin tune! -dantheman85x | 8/7/2008 |
Great song. Although I find it easier to capo 1 and play F, C, and B flat -rhein55 | 8/7/2008 |
i think the easiest way is capo 4 and play D A G it goesalong with the intro real well -ZachBg12 | 8/16/2008 |
i love this song, but i cant read chords, could you perhaps make a little key to how to play each chord? it would help a great deal. -dragnetromance | 8/27/2008 |
scroll your mouse over the chord and it shows you how to play them. -countryjake123 | 8/29/2008 |
watch the video on youtube its g d c and he alternates between bar and open chords in the verses and chorus as for the runs and the jam at the end i cant figure it out so someone better than me needs to tab it please -jackaldoc | 9/7/2008 |
if you tune your guitar down 1/2 step and play G,C,D then you will be playing it like They do. This will also allow for the intro to sound like he plays it.

1/2 step G D C is how i have been playing it and i cant find a better way. sounds dead on -dang | 10/5/2008 |
I think this sounds a lot better than G C D if you play along -DannyFord | 10/6/2008 |
Is it just me or is the lyrics in the intro wrong. I thought he went from "And the radio Up" to playing with the band, and then the first verse.
"And the Radio Up" Band comes in. "I was raised underneath the shade of a Georgia Pine" -jhempel24 | 11/5/2008 |
Lyrics need to be updated - several mistakes. Listen to the song and you'll see what I mean. Great song, though! -g- -coffeesucker | 11/13/2008 |
Has anyone figured out the strum pattern? because i just cant hear it. thanks -nerissa | 11/27/2008 |
I completely disagree with tuning your guitar up or down or changing the chords to G D A etc.....you can't learn unless you put yourself in the position of learning bar chords....it's not easy; I know because I have short fingers....but the sounds are so much richer when you play the chords that were intended to be played. -gisber | 12/8/2008 |
This song is in the key of G. He tunes down a half step. Don't believe me ? Just watch that video attached to this tab. You could never play the intro correctly using barre chords. Those are open strings. End of debate. -calve66 | 12/9/2008 |

My god, this is a three chord song and there are like 4 or 5 versions on here and I don't think any of them just write G D C with a note up top that the recorded version is tuned down 1/2 step. I can't believe all the comments arguing about how the song is played. I vote for all tabs of Chicken Fried be deleted and one correct version be uploaded in their place.
P.S. Just to be fair, this version has the correct notes. It's just not how the Zac Brown Band did it. They played G D C tuned down 1/2 step. -BrianEarlHaines | 12/29/2008 |
I agree someone just needs to wipe this off and start all over...If you see this guy on YouTube, here is the link, ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMc1JFhNdO0 ), he does it to the T..Major Kudos to this guy from Canada....Here is the link to his Tab..Yes, its awesome....
http://www.pdotsledding.com/rob/cftab.txt (tune down a half step he says)
Cheers and Happy New Year
